Taken a few months to get it all sorted but I have finanly managed to get to the end of our preperation work for the trooper.
Stuff thats been done to the truck so far;
All thats needed is a good valet and polish and were ready to hit London on 11th July for the launch.
I have been messing around with something quite cool, well I got bored. Instead of having basic vinyl lettering across the truck I decided to do 3d resin logos which involve clear vinyl and polyurethane resin and a bit of handy work. I thought it came out really well and will make more for the truck so it looks one cool rally vehicle.

It was a bit difficult getting the truck a set of racks. The nearest was a set of thule racks for over £150, these were also too short and would only be able to fit one wheel up on the roof.
Turns out that these apparently have a mount under the trim for a roof rails. I stipped these old rail trims to reveal mount holes.
Luckily i managed to come acorss a guy who custom made a rack for a trooper. I emailed him and he made a custom set for only £75, they look the business. Now I can mount a custom credle i had made last year.

Check out the full article here Photo shots were quite funny, seem to remember posing like David Brent from the BBC’s “The Office” See bottom photo of the newspaper clip. Although being asked to pose on the bonnet of the car was a bit too much for me and politely refused. I think my wife bought all of copies of the Echo in the local Tescos garage, and starting showing strangers… I was embarrassed to say the least. Shame Dan could not be here for the photo shoot. Would have made it complete. Next will be the story on our return. |
